Cordia has reached another important milestone: The developer has started construction work on its first UK rental housing project, a cornerstone of the company’s neighbourhood regeneration plans in Birmingham. Hungary’s leading residential developer aims to transform the area into a vibrant residential and commercial location.

The Lampworks is a 148-apartment building in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter. With over 200 listed buildings, the quarter is still an important economic centre, accounting for 40% of the UK jewellery industry.

The building will offer one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. These will include rental apartments at 20% below market rent, in line with local legislation, and commercial units on the ground floor. The common feature of the apartments is their outstanding energy efficiency, which means that The Lampworks will be one of the most energy-efficient developments in the city.

The construction of The Lampworks is being managed by Cordia’s strategic partner, the Pedrano Group, which has completed several joint projects in Hungary and abroad.
